What is Sea Moss?Eucheuma and Gracilaria, is the scientific name, commonly known as ‘Sea Moss’. Sea moss is one of the five seaweeds safe to consume and packed with nutrients. It grows in variations of color and grows abundantly in warmer waters typically the Java Sea, Celebes Sea, Solomon Sea, Caribbean Sea, Atlantic, and Pacific Ocean. There’s evidence of people using sea moss for nearly 14,000 years. In fact, it appears that people in China were using it back in 600 BC. Due to its large amount of nutrients, vitamins and minerals, sea moss is considered a superfood, and helps reduce the risk of chronic illness. This seaweed can be taken internally and externally. How long is the shelf life for Sea Moss?Sea Moss Gel has an average life span of about 3 to 4 weeks when refrigerated , and 90 days when frozen. Dry Sea Moss can last up to one year if the package hasn't been open and stored in a dry non damp area. Once the seal has been opened, you should be able to get 3 months shelf life.

How do I prepare Sea Moss?Rinse a handful of Sea Moss well and store in a bowl or container with enough water to cover your Sea Moss. You can use alkaline or spring water and soak for at least 4 hours. You can also add key lime while soaking to neutralize the seaweed taste. Remove Sea Moss from bowl or container rinse again, up to 5 to 6 times; you want to make sure it's clean. Then place in blender with enough water to cover your Sea Moss and blend for about 2 mins depending on your blender until it's the consistency that you like. Pour in a clean and dry air tight jar with lid and your Sea Moss is ready to use in your teas, stews, soups, smoothies, desserts, and face/body.

How do you store Sea Moss gel?Refrigerate immediately after receiving order. Keep gel in its sealed tight mason jar. The average life span is about 3 - 4 weeks when refrigerated. *Note: Refill bags only - you can freeze sea moss gel for 90 days To unthaw, place it in the refrigerator overnight or place in a bowl of cold water until thawed. Be sure to use clean utensils as not to cross contaminate while taking.

Are there side effects to taking Sea Moss?As fantastic as sea moss is, it does come with some side effects you should be aware of, mainly if your body is already predisposed to specific side effects from other supplements, because of its large amount of iodine. It can result to: - Thyroid dysfunction - Nausea and vomiting - Burning or reddening skin - Itchy or irritated skin If you experience any of these side effects, inform your doctor and stop the use of sea moss immediately.
